Great compo and colors...!!!

A picture with potential. Great autumn colours. With such a strong contrast I assume this was taken at noon/ early afternoon? Hard to see details on the spider for the shadow. Otherwise, The red leaves attract the eye. A fully opened aperture and/or closer view would have done a better job separating the object from the background.

You could try giving a positive compensation or use the flash, though the flash might have created an even stronger shade problem. The best solution in such conditions is to change the angle. Arthropods look better from the side anyway.

Still a nice shot. You may want to try clicking the shadow/highlight option once or even twice and see what it does to the harsh shades.

Great focus on something so little and hard to catch sometimes like it is a spider also great DOF feeling.. Lol..
IMO i would like to see a darker background or less distracting.. just my taste..
